Fruit shakes and smoothies were once popular only in tropical countries where the ease of access to affordable and high-quality fruits cannot be underestimated. Pineapples, coconuts, mangoes, and watermelons are just some of the fruits that people in temperate countries have had to pay for at a higher premium.
Not only this, people from the West once had a hard time in finding the best blender for frozen fruit, as there was no use for this type of equipment back then and so was not readily available.
Special? Well, in tropical countries this bunch is what you consider as “normal.”
With the increase in sophisticated logistics and manufacturing, the fruit shake and smoothie frenzy has taken the world by storm and is now part of many diets in Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe, North and Latin America.

Here is the official video of the Ninja Master Prep for you to have a better idea of the product:
Developed by Shark Ninja, Ninja Master Prep incorporates uniform fruit cutting with ice crushing. Specially developed for fruit-and-vegetable shake enthusiasts, it chops and blends easily and uniformly.
What we love about this product is its powerful feature on getting to chop many fruits and vegetables without putting a crisis on the quality of chopped produce. It is also not as noisy compared to other high powered blenders.
- This product is powerful enough to do both functions: chop both fruits and vegetables, and crush ice.
- It is very lightweight at only one pound.
- It is highly efficient in blending frozen fruit and vegetables.
- The blender can hold 48 ounces of blender ingredients in one batch.
- With a steady and no-slip base, you do not have to worry with the blender slipping when in action.
- The package comes with two 48-ounce jugs.
- Even though the blender gets to cut fruits and vegetables uniformly, it is not able to mix ingredients very well. Many lumps can form after the blend.
- The style of this blender is “down-up,” meaning, you have to put in the blades before putting the ingredients. This is a big change as most commercially available blender do have a “top-down” approach, where there is a lid on top of the blender for you to open and put in your ingredients.
- It is not easy to clean. With the “down-up” style, blades are not easily cleaned and so would take you more time of brushing and scrubbing before you get off all fruit and vegetable shavings.

Magic Bullet High-Speed Blender by NutriBullet
Dimensions: 12.9 x 9 x 13 inches
Weight: 7.7 pounds
Here is the official video of the Magic Bullet High-Speed Blender, so you see how it works in action:
Designed and manufactured by NutriBullet, it is geared for ultrafine chopping of fruits and vegetables, making it the favorite product of protein shake and juicer enthusiasts. It has a very high powered motor, and it’s apparent from the sound it makes while blending. It is also very sturdy that even with so many chops and blends to do, it does not waver on its stand.
What we particularly love about this product is with the package coming with many “freebies”: 1 flat blade, 1 emulsifying blade, 1 tall jug, 2 short jugs, 2 re-sealable container lids, and a pocketbook of recipes. For this price, you cannot ask for more with everything that comes with the package!
- The blender can do ultra-fine chopping of fruits and vegetables which is a feature that’s difficult to find in average-priced blenders.
- The multi-functions of the blender, which enables it to chop fruits and vegetables in different ways: ultra-fine and fine.
- It is safe to use for kids with the blades not directly accessed with the ingredients, and it is also sturdy making it safe for long and frequent blends and chops.
- It is BPA free, which is a plus for anybody’s health in the long run.
- It is very easy to clean as it works much like plug-and-play: snap off the jug off the blender’s base, remove the blades, then run under water.
- The product is geared for North American and Canadian citizens because its electrical standard of 600 watts is for these countries and states. Therefore, if you live outside the U.S. and Canada, you need an authorized transformer or converter to be able to use it.
- It is very easy to screw up the whole blend batch if you go over the “Max Fill Line.” While this seems straightforward, other blenders are not as sensitive to this; however, for this product, any small overflow ahead of the “Max Fill Line” can mean overflows, leaks, and spillages.
- It is not possible to crush ice with the product, which is a big downfall for many who would love to have the liberty of placing ice in some of their drinks. It is also not possible to change your blades into something more sturdy for crushing ice, so it is not as versatile with this respect.

Developed by Whirlpool Corporation back in 1919, the brand proved to stand the test of time with its innovations and iconic vintage designs. It is not getting behind with its range of blenders, and this 5-Speed Diamond Blender proves to be at the top of its game when compared to other KitchenAid blenders released.
With the ability to incorporate stirring, chopping, mixing, pureeing and liquefying in one solid blender, the Diamond Blender proves to be an all-in-one choice not only for juice, shake and smoothie enthusiasts; but also for those with interest in processing food.
What we particularly love about this product is in its versatility: the ability to be the jack of all trades, and master of all.
- This blender is not only able to chop efficiently, but it is also able to blend all ingredients efficiently and uniformly.
- It can crush ice efficiently and quickly.
- With its powerful motor, it can chop and blend ingredients at a very fast pace.
- It has a sturdy die-cast metal base which is perfect for long and continuous blends. This material also makes it easier to do a clean-up after use.
- It is BPA free, which is a plus for anybody’s health.

- The blender is very heavy, making it difficult to transfer, transport, and clean.
- The glass jug is very sensitive to sudden changes in temperature, so it’s better to keep in room temperature so as not to negatively affect the glass’ efficiency.
- It has so many buttons, and it can be difficult to clean when shavings get into the inner sides of these buttons.

Here is the official video of the Vremi set-up:
If there’s one blender that can specialize, it’s Vremi. Vremi has a range of products for specific uses, and the Professional Kitchen Blender is geared for perfecting the art of making fruit smoothies. What we loved about it is with the ease of cleaning the blender, owing to its sleek and intuitive design.
- The blender is specially designed for smoothies. There is even an automatic beverage button that has been pre-set by Vremi, which takes out a lot of the guesswork in blending smoothies. This is a unique feature not found in all the other blenders reviewed here.
- It can crush ice at 40-second intervals.
- The jar is square-shaped, which makes it easy to scrape out the blend from both sides.
- The manufacturer offers a one-year service, product, and parts warranty.
- The jug is made of plastic which makes it difficult to clean. It is also not good in the long run as with stains come an unwanted mix of tastes with current blends from previous ones.
- While it can be a plus that the jar is square-shaped, it is also its pitfall: it makes it harder to clean because all the inside edges cannot be easily cleaned with water and scrub. You have to use a toothbrush to scrape out food debris that’s been stuck in the inner corners.
- You cannot detach the blade from the blender, so there is an additional challenge for you when it comes to cleaning.
Knowing that Vremi’s strength is in specialization, here is their Strawberry Hand Cream Blender that can be used in tandem with the Professional Kitchen Blender:

Here is the official video showcasing the Total Blender Classic’s capacities:
At an expensive price, the Total Blender Classic proves to be a high class in its own right—but because of the right reasons.
First off, its look is a classic giveaway: sleek, uniform, seamless. With so much power in this blender at 1,560 watts, it can crush and chop fruits, vegetables, and ice at half the time compared to standard blenders.
What we love about it is in its efficiency, uniformity, and power: it’s quite amazing to think a blender like this can crush ice at only 4 seconds!
- It’s a home blender with commercial quality: at 1,560 watts, you cannot ask for more with its seamless efficiency.
- You can do anything with it: blend, cut, crush, smooth, stir, mix, puree. The possibilities are endless.
- You can do pre-programming on the blender (i.e., blending cycles) so you get to set different blending controls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s as if it’s got a brain on its own.
- You can set its automatic shut-off, so no more worries if you forget to pull the plug.
- It can carry 2 quarts of blend in one batch: that’s half a gallon or eight cups of fruit smoothies in just one batch!
- It is BPA free, so it’s safe for anybody health-wise, especially in the long run.• A lifetime warranty is offered for its blade and blade implements.
- This product is at least 3 times more expensive than the average blender. This may not be a good choice especially for those just starting out with making fruit shakes and smoothies.
- It can be difficult to clean and transport because the blender is not just heavy, it has a very thick glass jug which makes you feel wary with having to transport it too often.
- Part replacements (other than the blade and blade implements) can be very expensive. It also goes with the service which you also have to fork out for after the one-year service warranty.

Best Blender for Frozen Fruit – Buyer’s Guide
The Difference Between Fruit Shakes and Smoothies
The main difference between a fruit shake and a fruit smoothie is due to one ingredient: a form of milk used. Fruit shakes are usually made of fruits and ice cream/yogurt, with ice and sugar as optional; while fruit smoothies are made of fruits and milk, with ice and sugar as optional add-ons.
Fruit shakes and smoothies have become so popular that in the U.S., a smoothie chain quickly picked up with the public. Founded in 1973, Smoothie King is now a world-recognized brand for its fresh and preservative-free smoothies. There are currently 600+ branches worldwide which affirm the fact that fruit smoothies have taken an important place in the modern person’s diet.
In the Mediterranean, such as in Greece and Turkey, fruit smoothies are on a different take with unique ingredients added to them. Usually, thick yogurt and nuts are added to their fruit smoothies.
In India, fruit smoothies are called “lassi,” which is a combination of mangoes and/or pineapples, crushed ice, yogurt, and sugar. Sometimes, buttermilk is also added.
The Philippines, one of the biggest world exporters of mango, has its version of a fruit smoothie. Called “mango sago,” it’s made of ripe mangoes and tapioca pearls (locally called, “sago”). Filipinos love it especially during the summer, and it’s no surprise that these sell out in restaurants.
Fruit shake and the smoothie are now seen all over the world is not only a statement of its good taste and flavor; but also of its health benefits that people are now more conscious of.
Health Benefits of Fruit Shakes and Smoothies
Fruits in themselves are rich in vitamins and minerals, but did you know that putting fruits into shakes and smoothies make these vitamins better absorbed in the body? Here are the reasons why:
- When fruits are turned into shakes and smoothies, it gets easier for the body to digest the fiber content, which then makes it easier for vitamins and minerals to get into the system.
- Vitamins and minerals found in fruits cannot be underestimated: citrus fruits like oranges and lemons contain vitamin C, potassium, and folate; tropical fruits like papaya, rambutan, pineapple, avocado, coconut, bananas, and mango are all rich in vitamin C, potassium, folate and manganese; and berries like cherries and strawberries are rich in beta-carotene. Vitamin C is good for your immune system; potassium helps support your heart health; folate promotes healthy nerve function, and beta-carotene helps keep your eye health in place. When you combine different fruits into one mixture, you get the maximum benefits from all these varieties.
- Because of limitations in access, frozen fruit is proven to be just as good as the real thing—sometimes, frozen is even better. This is mainly because harmful microbes are killed in the freezing process, making it safer for you to use your fruits when you need them immediately. Using frozen fruits is particularly safer when you have to make shakes and smoothies.
Here is a video by the famous British chef Jamie Oliver on the benefits of fruit smoothies, and a bonus instructional video on how to make a frozen fruit smoothie:
How to Enjoy Fruit Shakes and Smoothies at Home
While a good range of quality fruits to choose from is very important, the choice of equipment used to make shakes and smoothies is also important. A fruit blender is your best friend once you decide to make your fruit shakes and smoothies at home.
With a lot of options available, it can be very challenging to choose which one is the best for your needs. How do you start shopping for your fruit blender?
What to Look for in a Frozen Fruit Blender
First off, why should we look for a frozen fruit blender, and not just a fruit blender?
This is not only for health reasons with reports vying for the idea that frozen fruits are better than the real fruit when juicing and blending; this also goes for the strength of the equipment. When the equipment can handle frozen fruit, sturdiness is already checked off the list as one of the blender’s key strengths.
Here are what to specifically look for when purchasing your fruit blender:
- What do you want to blend?
This is a basic question but quite difficult to answer. Yes, you want to make fruit shakes and smoothies, but what type of fruits would you want to use? How many batches are you looking into making in a day? What add-ons would you want to put into your shakes and smoothies? These are important to know, so you know what size and capacity range you want to look for in a blender.
- What type of blend do you want?
There are some who want chunky blends, and there are others who prefer smooth blends. There are those who love making shakes with ice, and others prefer a simple fruit-milk combination. Knowing which type of blend you want gives you an idea of the strength and type of blades that you want to come with your blender. You have to remember that ice is always the defining factor when buying a blender.
A rule of thumb: if a blender can crush ice with no problems, you sure have a sturdy and long-lasting blender.
- What features would you want your blender to have?
Some have more straightforward answers to this which include making a fruit-and-milk shake. But others want feature add-ons like ice-cream making, fruit-and-vegetable blending, and touch-and-go buttons among others.
- Is design versatility important to you?
If aesthetics are important to you, you may want to check out blenders on a higher range. Almost always, design versatility is what sets apart both blenders doing the same function, with the same system and features. But others find blenders an investment as these are not only hideaway items; but also nice feature items added to the kitchen.
- What’s your budget?
This is a very important factor for consumers as who wouldn’t want to have value for their money? With your blender function needs and requirements listed down, you can then list down blenders based on their price, then stick to the budget you have for this equipment. You don’t want to be regretting overspending for a blender that you could have bought at a lower price with another brand.
- What kitchen storage do you have?
Some blenders cannot withstand frequent changes in temperature; while others can withstand any weather. Some blenders are tall and bulky and are not fit to be stored in standard-sized kitchen cabinets. 18 inches is the typical distance between counters and upper cabinets, so be sure to check on this one. You should then have to decide where you want to store your blender, and then you can decide from there which blender you want to purchase.
- What’s your blender cleaning style?
Some blenders are more difficult to clean than others; while some are just plug-and-play. Some blenders have removable blades that make it easier for you to clean up; while others are more sophisticated in their set-up mostly because of the features added to the blender. Whichever you choose, make sure you are comfortable with the clean-up as cleaning is very important in maintaining your blender.
- Do you want glass or plastic?
While a plastic jug for the blender has its advantage of being lightweight; a glass jug is sturdier and easier to clean, but heavier. Plastic can also absorb stains which cannot happen with glass jugs.
Vitamix VS Blendtec – Blender Comparison
The two most famous and undoubtedly best blenders on the market are Blendtec’s Total Blender and the Vitamix Blender. Satisfied customers have stated that they are both worth every penny, even though their price tags both sport a high amount. Of course, knowing the similarities and differences between these quality products will allow you to choose which blender is better suited to your needs. This examination of Blendtec vs Vitamix might help you determine which one you’d rather purchase.
The Comparison
Firstly, both Blendtec and Vitamix blenders crush ice without a problem. They are also suitable for making soups or grinding dry food (e.g. seeds), and no other brand in the market trumps their performance when it comes to making smoothies, green or not. In terms of warranty, Vitamix offers a 7-year warranty with complete full use. On the other hand, Blendtec has also recently switched to a 7-year warranty, provided that the product is bought through authorized dealers. Both products come in 4 different colors: black, white, red and platinum (for Vitamix) and champagne (for Blendtec).
Speed Control
When it comes to speed, Vitamix has better speed control. The latest 5200 model comes with 2 switches (one for switching power on and off and another toggle for switch to high-speed) and a dial for variable speed. The latter is very helpful for adjusting the power, especially for blending very thick concoctions or during the initial stages of the blending, when there is a need to slowly build up speed. In this regard, Vitamix vs Blendtec definitely goes to Vitamix for better speed control.
However, Blendtec makes up for this because it features blending cycles that have been pre-programmed into the machine. The touchpad contains buttons like “Whole Juice” or “Smoothie”. Making ice cream or frozen yogurt is not a problem anymore either as one button will take care of it for you. Sauces, dressings, and more are available too. All you have to do is press a button, sit back, and let the blender do its work. This option is great for those who want to push a button and then leave the blender so they can do other stuff. If you want to blend manually, there are also 10 speeds available which you can toggle with speed up and speed down buttons, plus a pulse option (mainly used for cleaning).
Comparing the loudness of Blendtec vs Vitamix reveals that both produce tolerable sound, but Blendtec is relatively louder. Vitamix also has a larger jug than other blenders including Blendtec, so it is easy to work on large amounts at once rather than processing ingredients in batches. Its blades (4 prongs of stainless steel) are also attached to the base, so there is no problem of having to take it apart. Blendtec has a smaller jar which makes it fit easily on most kitchen countertops, and it contains 2 prongs of stainless steel. For both blenders, all it takes to clean up is to put on some water, add a little soap, and run it for a few seconds (press the ‘Pulse’ button for Blendtec) then you can rinse right after.
For smoothie making, both blenders deliver excellent performance. The combination of Blendtec’s automatic buttons and manual controls for speed make almost everything possible. The Vitamix blender, on the other hand, constantly produces creamy, and extra smooth green smoothies no matter how much you put in, even without the help of the tamper provided.
Which is better Vitamix or Blendtec?
Overall, the Blendtec vs Vitamix debate can be answered based on the needs of the customer. If you desire a shorter blender and do not have enough space to spare, Blendtec is the better choice. It is also recommended for those who prefer digital displays and do not wish to monitor the entire blending process: you can push a button and then go do something else. However, if you want simple buttons and greater control over the blending process, Vitamix is the blender you need. If having noticeably less noise is important, it would also be best if you choose Vitamix.
I’ve personally owned my Vita-mix now for several years and I love it. I’ve owned Blendtec too, but it isn’t as reliable and is too loud. Yes, the “Will It Blend” commercials were pretty entertaining, but it isn’t top chef quality. The recipes I make with my blender are amazing, they’ve really improved my health and quality of life. I actually save money now with my blender as it allows me to make inexpensive recipes from the comfort of my own home. I really like my KitchenAid Stone Blender. It is not hard to make use of; it blends fruits & vegetables successfully. The pitcher is not manufactured from glass but is constructed of a BPA-free clear plastic that is shatter-, scratch- and stain-resistant.
Initially, the pitcher is a lttle bit of a concern to twist open up and remove the blender basic, but once you find out the counter-clockwise convert movement, removing the pitcher from the blender basic is a breeze. The blender is quite extra tall at 17-ins from bottom level of basic to the very best of the pitcher’s lid, but it meets properly under my kitchen counter-top. I really like that the pulse feature can be utilized with the five blending rates of speed.
The lid of the pitcher is fantastic, I did not need to carry the lid while I was blending, therefore the lid securely sealed the pitcher while blending ingredients. Another reward is that it’s not as noisy as other blenders which i am used to, so that it is pleasant to make use of. The pitcher and blender basic is very easy to completely clean. After using the blender, I put in a half-full pitcher of warm and soapy drinking water, then press the stir function on pulse for 5 to 10 seconds.
As for the blender foundation, I wipe the buttons and the entire exterior with a damp paper towel. I recommend this blender if you are looking for a great quality blender that is also stylish.
I bought my Ninja Grasp Prep solely to make margaritas. The Ninja chops refrigerator ice into margarita ice flawlessly. The margarita ice came out just a easy as what you’ll find in local restaurant margaritas. The unit draws 450 watts and runs only when you press the top trigger. You must be super careful when washing the chopping blades because those little babies are wickedly razor-sharp.
I use my vitamix everyday but I’m looking for a travel smoothie blender that can blend frozen strawberries not just mince strawberries : ) Trying to decide the best NutriBullet model for traveling.
Eunice I like the bullet but both do well
